Thinking about tidying up doesn't have to wait until spring. The end of summer and the start of the new school year can often be a source of stress, and tidying the home can be just the thing to clear the mind. So it is a good time to re-organise your bathroom.
We are not going to hide the fact that we often tend to accumulate all of our cosmetic care products in one corner of the bathroom without ever using them all. You can blame it on the many innovations from our favourite brands! So to free up your space (and your mind), follow these 3 steps :
1. Keep an eye on the expiry date. Yes, you may not know it, but once opened, a cream or makeup product can only be used for a certain period of time, which can vary from 3 to 24 months (more rarely up to 36 months) depending on the type of formula. To find out how long it will stay usable after opening, look on the back or underneath your favourite product. You will find the pictogram of a jar with a number inside. Try to remember more or less exactly when you used it for the first time. If you are not sure, put it aside to sort out later. You can also recognise when it is time to throw away a product by its smell, colour or texture. It is better not to use it on your skin if any of these three parameters changes.
2. Get rid of what no longer suits you. Besides your skin type (normal, dry or combination/oily), its condition varies according to the season or exposure to certain environmental factors. It can also be dehydrated at one point in time and then no longer be so. Make a pile of products you no longer want to keep. Offer them to your family or friends, donate them to a charity or sell them on Vinted.
3. Sort out what is no longer usable. You won't have missed it. Sorting instructions are now clearly visible on all packaging, whether cosmetic or not. So you can see more clearly what is recyclable and what is not. We also throw away :
- In the sorting bin : cardboard packaging, plastic bottles and tubes with caps, aluminium bottles.
- Glass bin : glass bottles (CQFD), including caps if there are any.
- In the rubbish bin : everything else (not much at Bernard Cassière ;) ), such as lids, which are too small to be sorted. And because we don't do things by halves at BC, there's no need to throw away your jars ! All you have to do is buy a refill when the product is finished. Practical, ecological and economical !
